Every Inn Style website is now secure by default, so guests can book direct with even more confidence
Inn Style’s fundamental purpose is to make every day easier for accommodation owners.
We do this with beautiful, reliable technology that helps you make and manage reservations. And the shiny new hammer in your selling toolkit is our free website with every paid Inn Style plan.
Mobile-friendly websites for everyone
Inn Style websites take the hassle and cost out of managing your web presence.
No more drag-and-drop-design-your-own-disaster. No more desperate searches to find the telephone number of the web developer you haven’t spoken to in 15 months. Just a clean, simple website – right there to manage from within your Inn Style account.
The website builder was launched towards the end of last year, and customers like Bodalwyn Guesthouse — who joined us in December 2016 — are already benefitting from having a mobile-friendly website with direct bookings built right in.
“We’ve been using Inn Style for 30 days and it’s already paid for itself for the next three years. The team at Inn Style have the patience of saints and will hold your hand every step of the way.”
Now secure by default
Today, I’m thrilled to announce we’re going one step further by ensuring all Inn Style websites are now secure by default.
This means we’re serving the websites over https, giving you and your customers a completely encrypted browsing and booking experience.
Note the green padlock in the corner of websites we already power, such cartrefguesthouse.co.uk and thelodgingsware.co.uk – this gives guests browsing your site even more confidence to book direct with you.
It also demonstrates your commitment to keeping their personal data private – giving you a competitive edge over other accommodations that use basic (and insecure) enquiry forms.
Additional benefits of going green
By serving your website over https, additional security measure means we can soon ensure the entire booking process happens on your own domain.
Currently, we redirect users to your innstyle.co.uk subdomain to complete the booking process (because Inn Style has always been secure by default). But now there’s no reason to do that. Watch out for this feature in the coming weeks!
Secure websites also make search engines feel warm and fuzzy. If Google know your website gives visitors a secure environment, they’ll be more inclined to rank your website above a non-secure website.
The best news is that we’re doing all of this for no extra cost. The websites are still free with every paid plan. And the paid plans are still bang-for-buck the very best on the market.

You may have heard this stuff called SSL and be wondering if that’s the same thing.
The short answer is yes, it is same thing.
The longer answer is it is kind of the same thing. SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. This was a term coined by Netscape, whose clever people originally invented the protocol. After many improvements, and the drive for a more secure (but still open and free) web, the newer versions changed the name to TLS (Transport Layer Security) to avoid any legal issues with Netscape.
When we talk about https, we are talking about http connections that are secured by SSL or TLS.
However, SSL has been proven to be insecure. As such, there is a drive to drop SSL entirely, and only adopt TLS. At Inn Style, we’ve already done this. It does mean that really old browsers, like Internet Explorer 6 can no longer come to the party (it never got around to supporting TLS), but we take your security very seriously.
Thanks and praise
This wouldn’t have been possible without the Let’s Encrypt service. So we are very grateful to all the security researchers involved in the project, and all its sponsors.
