Staylists is a complete bookings platform for hotels and short-stay accommodation providers. We have a mature, well tested monolithic Ruby on Rails codebase, and big plans for what this product could become.

Staylists is recruiting a full stack Ruby on Rails developer with an interest in product design to help build and improve existing features and fix those inevitable bugs.

You'll be a good fit if you:

  • Have a few years experience working as a rails developer in a software development team

  • Like to write well-structured, testable code, with a focus on simplicity and maintainability

  • Care about quality, not only of the code you write, but of the product you're building

  • Enjoy working with a collaborative team of varied disciplines, including developers, marketers and salespeople

  • Have an enthusiasm for working directly with users to build and deliver the right features

  • have an innate desire to learn and improve

  • Want to learn about data analysis and how to use it to improve the product

Working at Staylists, you will:

  • Maintain and extend existing features, and collaborate with the rest of the development team to spec, design and build new features end-to-end

  • Learn from, and share your experience with a great team of experienced developers, salespeople, support and customer service staff.

  • Become familiar with a pragmatically-chosen tech stack and have a pivotal role in all architectural decision-making

  • Work closely with users, providing them with support, researching new features and soliciting feedback

  • Contribute opinions on a range of topics, from development practices to product strategy and roadmap

  • Write, maintain and share detailed systems specification documentation.

Nice to haves:

  • Knowledge of front end extension languages such as Haml, Sass, and Coffeescript

  • Experience working in an agile development team, following software engineering best practices

  • Experience with docker, server administration and devops best practice
